Our goal is simple: to raise exceptional Border Collies and match them with loving, responsible families. Every puppy is raised in a caring home environment where they receive daily attention, socialization, and proper care from the very beginning of life.
The Border Collie, often simply called a Collie, is a medium-sized herding dog that originated in Northumberland, England. Known worldwide as one of the most intelligent dog breeds, the Border Collie belongs to the Pastoral Breed Group and is admired for its loyalty, work ethic, and loving personality.
Border Collies are highly intelligent, energetic, and eager to learn. Because of their strong herding instincts and active minds, they thrive in environments where they have room to move, tasks to complete, and people to interact with. They are happiest when given a job—whether it’s herding, learning tricks, playing outdoors, or simply being an active companion for their family.
Despite their energetic nature, grooming a Border Collie is relatively easy. Their beautiful coat typically requires weekly brushing to keep it healthy and clean. Because they are extremely clever and energetic, Border Collies should receive plenty of mental stimulation and exercise, as a bored Collie can easily become an expert escape artist.
The Border Collie is a smart, playful, affectionate, and loyal breed that thrives on human companionship. They form deep bonds with their families and usually get along well with other household pets, although their natural herding instincts may cause them to chase smaller animals. Alert and courageous, they can also make excellent watchdogs for the home.
With proper care, love, and an active lifestyle, Border Collies typically enjoy a lifespan of 12–15 years, bringing many years of companionship, adventure, and joy to their families.

About Border Collies
The Border Collie is widely recognized as one of the most intelligent and capable herding dogs in the world. Renowned for its unmatched work ethic, quick thinking, and athletic ability, the breed has long been the preferred choice of shepherds and farmers who rely on dogs that can work tirelessly while remaining highly responsive to human commands.
The modern Border Collie traces its lineage to the Scottish Landrace Collies, hardworking farm dogs that were prized for their natural herding instincts. One particular dog, Old Hemp, bred by Adam Telfer in the late 1800s, played a crucial role in shaping the breed we know today. Old Hemp was famous for his calm style of herding and remarkable intelligence, and many of today’s Border Collies can trace their bloodlines back to him.
The name Border Collie comes from the breed’s place of origin—Northumberland, England, a region located along the border between England and Scotland. The breed’s history can be traced back to the period following the decline of the Roman Empire. During their occupation of Britain, the Romans brought small, agile Spitz-type herding dogs. These dogs were later crossed with the dogs introduced by Viking settlers who raided and settled parts of Britain. The offspring of these crossings were compact, energetic, and incredibly agile—traits that helped form the foundation of the modern Border Collie.
As farming practices evolved, these early sheepdogs became invaluable partners to shepherds. Over time, different regional variations emerged depending on the terrain and work required. These dogs were often named after the regions in which they worked, including the Highland Collie, Northern Sheepdog, Scotch Collie, and Welsh Sheepdog.
The breed began to gain wider recognition in the 19th century. During the second dog show held in England in 1860, Scotch Sheepdogs were displayed and attracted significant attention. One particular admirer was Queen Victoria, who encountered the breed while visiting Balmoral and quickly developed a deep appreciation for these remarkable working dogs.
In 1873, the first sheepdog trial was held in Bala, Wales, showcasing the incredible natural herding ability of these dogs. These competitions highlighted their intelligence, responsiveness, and control over livestock, which helped solidify the importance of breeding dogs with exceptional working ability.
The name Border Collie was officially used for the first time in 1915 by James Reid, the secretary of the International Sheep Dog Society (ISDS). The organization wanted to distinguish these highly skilled working dogs from the Collies recognized by traditional kennel clubs. While they shared common ancestry, Border Collies continued to be bred primarily for performance, intelligence, and herding ability rather than appearance.
The breed was later formally recognized by The Kennel Club in 1977, with updated breed standards introduced shortly afterward.
When the Border Collie was introduced to the United States, its intelligence and trainability quickly captured public attention. Beyond farms and ranches, the breed began appearing in films and television shows such as Babe, Hotel for Dogs, and Mad About You. Their remarkable learning ability has also made them valuable working dogs in modern roles, including search-and-rescue operations, narcotics detection, agility competitions, and advanced obedience training.
Today, the Border Collie continues to be celebrated not only as an extraordinary working dog but also as a loyal, energetic, and deeply devoted companion. With their intelligence, eagerness to please, and strong bond with their families, Border Collies remain one of the most admired and respected dog breeds in the world.

OUR STORY
Thanks for visiting our website. I am called Carlos Diego. The Austin’s family are the owners of Spring Border Collies. We have been breeding this lovely breed dogs since 2014. My wife and I are pet lovers so we took up the initiative to breed these lovely dog breed to satisfy the needs of families who will want to own or add a new member to their family. My knowledge about the Border Collies has grown as the years go by as they are a dog breed that are very smart and make us to learn new things everyday. My history with owning a puppy goes right back to my Christmas holidays when I was 10 years old. My parents bought me a lovely Border Collie puppy which I named Liam. Liam gave me a lot of childhood memories when I was growing as a teen. He was more than a best friend to me. He was so lovely and friendly. Each time I got angry back then about something, Liam was always there to console me and make me smile again. I always thought he could talk as he understood me so much. I always speak to him at times hoping he will respond. Everywhere I went to, Liam was with me. I met my wife in college. We were very good friends back then. She loved Liam until she insisted her parents should get her a Border Collie. That was how our love for this lovely dog breed grew up. Our dogs use to play together. Unfortunately in our later years at college, I lost my lovely puppy Liam. We grew up loving each other so much and loving this dog breed. Later on, we got married and with our love for Border Collies. We decided to breed and raise this dog breed and why not educate puppy lovers about the importance of owning a Border Collie puppy. Fast forward to today, my wife and I raise our 2 kids and breed the Puppies on our 3 acres of land where our puppies have enough space to play around. My family and I are dedicated to help everyone own the perfect, healthy puppy for their home. With our knowledge of this dog breed from childhood, we will say Border Collie’s are the best dogs to own. We spend our time in training these puppies and making sure we help families own the most intelligent of this dog breed.
